Slow and steady- June 10, 2014

Went to Montague again for another full day halibut charter.  Unfortunately the tide today was what we call a split tide, meaning the tide is changing in the middle of our day resulting in the first two hours of fishing to be during slack water.  Halibut are a fish that primarily feeds on the tide.  They prefer moving water in order to hunt and locate their prey.

Although slow we did catch a few nice ones.  Later after the tide switch we relocated and tried another shallow water spot for the ebb (outgoing tide).  The current was strong and we limited the boat fast.  The weatherman predicted we would have some weather coming our way but we were fortunate enough to be on our way home by the time the weather started to pick up.

Going out with friends tomorrow to catch some halibut for ourselves.  Standby for the report! FISH ON!!
